Hello my lovelies,
It's been eons since I last blogged, again! Things have been so busy recently it doesn't feel like I've had any time to sit down and rejoin the blogging world - my Bloglovin unread count is ridiculously high right now! I've also not been wearing anything fabulous (and didn't take any outfit photos at my work Christmas do - epic fail) so rather than bombard you with photos of my face I thought we could sit back, have a mince pie and catch up...
At my insistence we got our tree relatively early this year and put it up last Sunday - I'm utterly determined to have a real tree every year as that is what I grew up with and I adore the selection process, hopping around a muddy farm yard until you find the perfect tree! Ours is a little small this year, shorter than I am (which is saying something) but perfectly formed and fits wonderfully into our little flat. I'm sure we need more lights though! The pictures above are of our Disney decorations from Florida, as Disney fanatics these are of course entirely necessary to further our enjoyment of Christmas.
What else have I been up to, other than covering every available surface in the flat with baubles and tinsel? Last week my besties and I spent an afternoon perusing Harrods and trying unsuccessfully to get into Winter Wonderland - the queue was horrendous so we gave up and found a lovely little market in Leicester Square where we promptly boarded the carousel - I think we were all a little disappointed when it ended! I also completed my transformation into a Christmas pudding with this little beauty from Sainsburys, of all places - after rejecting pricier offerings in New Look and Next I'm quite pleased with my little find, it'll be perfect for covering up that food baby on Christmas Day.
This weekend has been a little more of a write-off as Friday night was spent in Birmingham for our work do, so the subsequent days have been a very slow rotation of films, food and numerous cups of tea on the sofa... thank goodness it's only once a year! I'm still kicking myself for not taking any pictures of my outfit as I was so sparkly - how often does one get to dress as a Christmas bauble?! Perhaps I'll try and recreate it for blog purposes...
Next week my siblings are visiting for some more UK festivities and then we'll be off to Luxembourg where I am hoping against hope for a white Christmas! What have you been up to recently? And what are your Christmas plans?

Happy Sunday my lovelies!
It seems almost unthinkable that we've hit November already and the days are getting shorter once again, this year has simply raced by... on one hand I'm a bit sad 2013 is drawing to a close so quickly and the days are so dark, but on the other, well, I do love wrapping up in cosy knits and keeping an eye out for early Christmas decorations! How early is too early to put the tree up?!
It was so windy today that I couldn't be persuaded to remove my coat for snaps of my dress, but then it's an effort for people to persuade me to leave the cosy warmth of the flat these days... however a combination of the sunshine and the promise of coffee and new books eventually lured me outside! The wind also made for some, er, interesting hair going on here... clearly I am descended from lions.
This really isn't the type of dress I'd normally wear as it's a bit too tummy-hugging (gotta hide that food baby before I start getting awkward due date questions) but I think it'll look nice under some jumpers as the weather turns colder. I'm envisaging it with my burgundy jumper from a recent outfit post, watch this space!
Dress - Next
Coat - Jasper Conran (via eBay)
Scarf - H&M
I appear to have forgotten how to smile. And pose. At this point I was most likely in a sulk due to lack of caffeine consumption.
But then I got my hands on a Starbucks orange mocha (complete with the famed red cup) so all was well in the world again!
I'm now going to curl up under my duvet with a book (and possibly Jon) and pretend I don't have to get up for work in the morning, sigh. I've just raced through all five available books in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, and I'm thinking of doing another book post soon as I've rediscovered my utter devotion to reading again!
Is this something you'd like to see? Have you read any good series recently? I adore recommendations!

Wow, my hundredth outfit post - who would have thought?! Let's gloss over the fact it's taken me about three years to do this, shall we? Truth is I get dressed while half asleep most days and only realise I look like a bag lady once I've been at my desk for a few hours... not really worth photographing now is it?!
Despite it still only being October, I'm beginning to feel festive now the leaves are starting to fall and I'm having to dig out my knitwear once again. I actually had to be deterred from buying pumpkins and a holly wreath at the supermarket this morning - it is just some kind of condition I have that as soon as the temperature drops below 15 degrees I start buying mulled-wine-scented candles and twinkly lights. I'm seriously counting down until the day we can put up the tree!
In the meantime I shall try and distract myself with the odd wintery treat here and there, such as this awesome cosy jumper. I bought the white one a few weeks ago (funnily enough on a day when it was about 20 degrees - my mother was in sandals, while I was hugging jumpers in Bluewater squealing IT'S SO FLUFFY) and it's so warm and cosy and bulky but not too frumpy, I just had to have two. They also have a gorgeous powder blue one that I think I'm going to have to add to my wardrobe.
I think this is absolutely my favourite colour for A/W - anything vaguely berry/purple/plum/burgundy and I am sold. It also matches all my lip colours (yes, I MATCH things). The snood is also a new acquisition - it has a very subtle sparkle to it and I don't have to worry about it clashing with any of my numerous coats! Not that it's cold enough to wear a scarf just yet (I removed it seconds after the photos were taken as it's just TOO warm... I want it to be properly cold now!)
Jumper - H&M
Snood - H&M
Skirt - River Island
Necklace - Fiorelli
Just as a quick aside, if you fancy 25% off anything in H&M right now there's a voucher in the most recent copy of Grazia (only £1!) but it's only valid until Tuesday so hurry! It's literally the only reason I allowed myself to buy the jumper and scarf - I just cannot seem to shake off the bargain-hunting side of me that developed as a student...
I've been wearing these sweaters with jeans and boots for a super laid back comfy look - obviously I decided a skirt would be most appropriate for these pics and the lovely windy weather today...
Can I just take a second to give this necklace some appreciation as well? I adore my jumpers but often end up looking a bit like a frump with the higher necklines thanks to the larger than average bust I was cursed/blessed with. Dainty little pendants just won't cut it in this instance, so I've taken to wearing statement necklaces, the bigger the better! This one is so stunning and really adds a lovely touch to any outfit - I'm planning on teaming it with a high necked black dress for my next night out.
I think between the jumpers, the scarf and the necklace I've basically got my A/W style sorted for now - what are your cold weather essentials this year?

Hello my lovelies,
Yes, it's been an embarrassingly long time since my last post, again. I miss the old uni days when I could post all day err'day, without a care in the world (except for essays and seminar prep and living off Tesco own brand food...). Anyhow, I'm continuing my own yearly autumn trend today with yet another berry shade lip product - I'm sorry, I'm just obsessed! I think if you look back through all my posts around this time of year I've mentioned several lip stains and pens, so today I'm injecting something new with a bit more moisture than your average stain - perfect for the chillier mornings!
I'm a huge fan of Bourjois as they provided some of my first ever make-up products - my first mascara was a brown volume-boosting affair, which I teamed with one of their dual-ended kohl pencils in purple - wahey! I used to swear by their 10 hour sleep foundation as well, until I discovered high end bases, much to the chagrin of my purse. This year though they have really stepped up their game with new release upon new release and as I'm a sucker for anything pencil shaped and bright I instantly fell in love with the Colour Boost lipsticks.
This is the shade Plum Russian, which despite its initial dark appearance translates to a nice berry pink when worn. I like the effect after a quick swipe (super easy to apply on the go!) as it adds a gentle pop of colour, although you can build this if you like. Of course it wouldn't be a proper review without some more silly photos of my face to show you what it looks like...
It has a very soft glossy texture so I wouldn't recommend applying too much though, unless you're a fan of sticky lips. A slight negative is the twist-up action - always a fab idea it's true, but I've found my pencil likes to twist itself up on its own when in my bag so I occasionally open it to find the tip all mashed up. It's something I can live with though! I find it perfect for everyday use and although it doesn't beat more medicinal lip care products it certainly leaves my lips feeling moisturised and soft.
Bourjois new releases are currently on offer in Superdrug and Boots. This normally retails at £7.99 but if you're a bargain hunter like me you'll no doubt keep an eye out for 3 for 2s!
Happy Saturday my lovelies!
Like everyone else I'm struggling to adjust to this abrupt switch to autumn chills and damp and dark days again. It seems like a lifetime has passed since I was having lunches on our balcony in the sun or drinking frappuccinos and complaining about sunburn, yet in reality it's not even been two weeks! My wardrobe is equally struggling to yield any warmer options as it seems I only own summer dresses or heavy jumpers, neither of which is suitable for the in-between weather we have at the moment! One thing that happens every autumn without fail for me is the panicked hunt for yet another season-appropriate coat. I don't ask much - just somewhat fitted, warm, a bit jazzy with a hood (ain't nobody got time for umbrellas when you're walking to work in a rainy gale). The last few winters I've used a combination of coats and hats to stay dry but this year I've hit the jackpot, courtesy of New Look.
This lovely navy number ticks all my boxes - snug enough to keep out the cold, with a snuggly hood to keep my barnet frizz-free(ish). I've had a bit of a strange relationship with New Look over the years, I used to buy all my clothes there but as time passed the number of items I fell in love with each season diminished more and more until I simply stopped venturing inside when on one of my shopping sprees. Recently though, I've been spotting pieces online that have really struck my fancy and when I saw this coat I just had to have it!
Today's dreary weather also meant I could dig out the awesome Mighty boots from Topshop - I snaffled these up at the beginning of the summer (at a fraction of the price, cheers eBay) and have been patiently waiting for it to get cold and wet enough to wear them out. They're super comfy, super cosy and look rather nice with my textured jeggings, although I'm also planning on rocking them with dresses and tights over the coming months as I put my ballet pumps to sleep for the winter...
Coat - New Look/Jeggings - Dorothy Perkins/Boots - Topshop/Bag - Monsoon
I'm trying out new locations for photos now as well - this is Brentwood
"cathedral" (although it does not resemble the cathedrals I'm used to,
i.e Canterbury, Luxembourg, France...) and it was reasonably empty today
so I got Jon to snap some pics while on the way back from our weekly
Starbucks date. I still feel a bit silly posing when there's a lot of
traffic passing, but hey ho, the light's better than it is in our flat!
My hair's responding in its usual way to the drizzle and damp so I'm
thinking I may give up on the old ghds until the sun next rears its
head. If you have any recommendations for your fave products for curly
hair please let me know, I'm going to need all the help I can get!

I'm not a big fan of chunky, spiky, heavy jewellery. There, I said it. Don't care how trendy it is, if it looks like it could cause someone considerable pain then I tend to keep a safe distance, clutching my pearls. Give me kitschy clock pendants or dainty rose gold any day - although for this beauty I have made an exception.
One of the brands I work with, Fiorelli (
@fiorellijewels) recently brought out this sparkly spiky stunner for their AW13 collection and I snapped it up as soon as it was released. Yes, it's spiky, but they're dainty spikes - and I am a sucker for crystals, what can I say?
It just adds a little bit of an edge to an outfit (not that I am in any way edgy!) and works just as well with t-shirts as it does with little dresses. It does mean I've had to rethink some necklines, but utilising a bit of brainpower when planning outfits is sometimes required, I suppose...
I must say it looks especially spiffing when teamed with my faux-leather jacket and a pink pout - I tend to adopt a bit of a messy-hair/snarly-face when wearing this combination, harking back to my angsty teenage days! In these pics however, I added a bit of a Breton stripe-inspired dress (missing my holiday clearly) and a somewhat groomed ponytail - it just adds a bit of bling to an otherwise plain outfit and I adore it! I'm already looking forward to rocking it with some cosy jumpers, peeping out under a cowl neck or under a scarf...let's be honest, those days are soon to be upon us!
What's your go-to accessory this autumn?

*Disclaimer - I do get a staff discount but would probably have bought it anyway, I am that besotted!
...Otherwise known as Paradise.
I cannot believe it has been another month since I last blogged and I'm so sorry! Thank you for still sticking by me during my blog silence!
This August has been a funny old month, with a whole lot of work-related stress which means all energy used for blogging, tweeting or anything productive at all has been depleted by the time I get home each night! It's not all been bad however - a couple of weeks ago my dad kindly invited Jon and I to stay with him in Brittany for a week and it was exactly what we both needed to chill out and forget the world for a while.
I'd never visited Brittany before and had formed an image in my mind that it was a bit like the English coast I'm used to - grey, windy, a bit run-down and full of junk shops. How wrong I was! Not a tacky gift shop in sight (well, until we hit the touristy Mont St Michel), a super cute village with a grocer's, three bakeries and a cheese shop (well it is France), and the most stunning beaches I've seen in a long time. We spent most days walking along the coast, visiting various historical places of interest (including the Bayeux tapestry), dreaming of a wedding in a French chateau (well I did, anyway!) and eating. Oh, the eating. The cheese. The moules. The frites. The pancakes (I adore the savoury galettes they do, we've taken to making our own gluten-free versions at home). The wine! I'd go back in a heartbeat (and hopefully will as we're already planning next year's visit) I can definitely see why people fall in love with the region, it's just stunning... But I'll let you see for yourselves!
The tides were incredible - if you wanted to go swimming without having to walk miles over a moon-landscape then you can only go in the mornings or evenings - Jon and I passed the harbour at 3pm and all the boats were beached! Despite the water drawing so far away it was still lovely to sit by the sea and drink in all the air and atmosphere - just heavenly and so good for the soul.
Naturally we also indulged in some soul food...magret de canard, local fish and naturally some sweet treats were on the menu!
It's "cidre", not cider! Also loved the wizard on the bottle!
Suffice to say we arrived home somewhat heavier than when we left, although every bite was worth it! I'm still craving those delicious mussels, and I really miss having a fresh baker's nearby (although my stomach probably isn't missing it!)
How was your August?

Hope you're all still enjoying these gorgeous temperatures and regular appearances from the sun - I know I am! I walk around 20 minutes to work each way and it definitely makes it that bit easier when everything is bright and sunny. It does mean that I have to pile on the water- and sweat proof make up like it's going out of fashion (MAC Fix + helps a lot, FYI!) and so it makes the task of cleaning it all off a bit arduous every night. My usual Bioderma and SLS-free soap routine just wasn't cutting it, and my waterproof mascara was leaving all sorts of attractive black marks around my eyes even after sleeping, so it was time to break out the big (oily) guns.
I'd stumbled across the practice of using oils when I applied some coconut oil to my lashes in an attempt to make them feel healthier, and noticed it was effectively cleaning off the remnants of my sturdy mascara. With that in mind I nipped into Boots the other day with a mind to picking up some other oils, and came across this enormous bottle of citrusy loveliness.
The first thing I have to comment on is the smell - it is so orange-y and gorgeous and fresh! If you hate citrus it will probably grate on you a bit but I adore it. It's so easy to use as well - I spend some time massaging it in everywhere and then just add some water, massage a bit more then rub it off. I sometimes do a once-over with Bioderma just to check and there's never any make-up smears left over on the cotton pad, so it certainly does the trick! I'm not too sure if it lives up to the promise of brightening the skin, but it definitely cleanses like a champ.
The only downside is the bottle design - yes it's huge, but it's a bit like a bog-standard olive oil bottle in that you really get a glug when you pour it out so you end up using a load...I've got a mind to transfer some to an old Bioderma bottle if I can, but for the time being I've resorted to pouring a small amount of the cleansing oil into the lid and then into my hands to avoid spillage and waste.
I really enjoy using this though and have definitely become a cleansing oil convert! How about you? Hit me with your favourites!

Hello my lovelies,
Hope you're all having a good week so far! My Twitter timeline is full of people complaining about the weather, so I'm just going to get out there and say it - I love that it's actually hot in July! Sure, 30 degree heat isn't fun when you're in an office 90% of the time, but I've been able to eat lunch outside and walk to work without a jacket and it's AWESOME. I could definitely get used to this!
It also means that all this year's graduates don't have to plan around unpredictable weather - when I graduated two years ago I had two outfit options depending on whether it rained or not and it made the day so much more stressful in my opinion. Thankfully, the weather held out for my cousin Naomi's big day today and I didn't have to dig out the old black opaques (in hindsight not the best thing as it was super windy down in old Canterbury).
Whilst waiting for the actual graduates to finish taking official photos, we snuck around the back of the cathedral to my favourite photo spot... I loved having my own graduation pics taken here (which you can see in this post) and eventually took some of Naomi as well! Of course, it was the perfect opportunity to snap some outfit pics - well, what else would you expect?
Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Red Herring
Shoes - Primark
Food baby - ASK Italian...
I am actually obsessed with these Dorothy Perkins dresses, they're so easy to throw on and really comfy too. Am tempted to do a post on them as they seem to be a "thing" now - stay tuned...
I always consider it a successful day when I can get some nice shots of Jon and I - hurrah for couple photos! There are always ridiculous out-takes though (is it just us??) - this was because Jon tried to get me to give him a piggy-back. It didn't work.
I always love going back to Canterbury - I have so many good memories of this place and it really does feel like home to me! It's particularly lovely in the sunshine, and so nice seeing all the graduates in their robes with their proud parents. It genuinely doesn't feel like two years have passed since I was one of them - where does the time go?! If you do visit, take some time out from the High Street (although it is BRILLIANT) and take a wander down some of the back streets - there are some fab independent shops, pubs (there are over 600 in the surrounding area!) and beautiful tranquil views like this around every corner:
Ahh. I can haz more Kent time, please?
I am happy to put my hands up and say it - I'm obsessed with hair products. If it promises to nourish, smoothen, defrizz, enhance growth, well it's probably already in my bathroom somewhere. Anything to help with my ongoing quest for longer locks!
I won't get started on my hair oils just yet (I currently have 3 in rotation...) but these two products are relatively new buys and I like them enough to recommend. Yay!
The first one is by Dove from their Nourishing Oil range - I like Dove a lot but for some reason seem to overlook their products in favour of more expensive flashy ones. Doh! I realised my mistake recently when picking up this leave in conditioner spray. I love the 1 minute conditioning treatment in this range so this partly swayed my decision - it's also cheaper than my usual Aussie spray and as I'm poorer than a church mouse these days I like to save wherever I can.
I quite like this - it's no miracle worker but I use it overnight to cool my head down and to provide some care for my frazzled ends. I also like to spray a little into my hands and rub through the ends after styling as it smooths down flyways and makes them feel a bit softer. Soft is good right?
Speaking of soft, if you want lovely soft touchable hair then the L'Oreal Smooth and Polish serum is a good budget option. I'm not normally a L'Oreal person - their ads are laughable and I'm sick of seeing Cheryl Cole bleating on about whatever shampoo she's promoting at the moment so it does put me off a bit! However this was on 3 for 2 alongside the Dove spray and a shampoo I bought and I figured it couldn't hurt. At first I didn't get on with it at all - I used a blob in damp hair and it was as useful as a chocolate teapot. Same frizz, same big bushy head. Then one day I randomly decided to use it on dry hair... And it was amazing. I had like movie star locks, they were soft and shiny and less puffy than usual! So now I use a blob of this after blow drying and before straightening and I swear my style holds longer too. Very impressed and I'll probably repurchase when it runs out!
Oh, both products smell delish too - in case that's a requirement for you (it is for me, nothing worse than stinky locks!)
What are your favourite hair products at the moment? Any recommendations?
Love Dani
