Hello my lovelies,
I'm usually the type of girl who matches her nails to her lipstick and believes that a touch of glitter is on the extremely extravagant end of the scale...but these three bottles looked so nice together when sat next to one another on my shelf, that I decided to do multi-coloured nails for the first time EVER. I know right, how daring...
I used Chanel in May, Barry M in Peach Melba, and the unnamed Bourjois coral shade (I think it should be named after some exotic bird, but there you go!). Of all of them the Barry M was the hardest to apply as it kept going streaky, while the Chanel one required several coats to achieve the desired finish. My favourite of the lot is the Bourjois polish, though, because it was opaque after a single coat and lasted the longest without chipping.
I'm going to try Union Jack nails next in honour of the Jubilee - can you tell I'm excited?!
Hello my lovelies,
Just a quick collection of snaps I've taken over the last couple of days! The weather has been so beautiful, as I'm sure you are all aware - perfect lounging in the sun weather! I was absolutely melting in the office last week, so this is the dress I chose to wear on Friday:
Both the dress and little cardigan are from Dorothy Perkins, last year. The dress is a bit bigger than I'd like but it means it's nice and cool to wear, and I adore the coral colour! I decided to slap on a bit of Viva Glam Nicki lipstick as well because bright colours just make me happy.
Yesterday we spent most of the day chilling in the garden (except for a brief sojourn to Starbucks for a half price frappuccino - Mocha Cookie Crumble with a shot of peppermint is deliciously indulgent and refreshing!) so I wore this Next top with a pair of grey H&M shorts (it's impossible to get decent full length outfit shots when one's most trusted photographer isn't around...sigh).
I matched it with this adorable necklace I got from my friend Geo; I think it was from Accessorize? I swear that shop will be my downfall, it's impossible to walk past and of course every time I venture inside I end up buying something prettiful!I have about a million Accessorize necklaces by now!
How are you spending your weekend? I really hope the weather is this good next weekend, I've got a lot planned for the Jubilee; how about you?
Hello my lovelies,
Gosh, how long has it been since I managed an outfit post on a Tuesday?! It's not much, I managed to get Jon to snap a quick photo before we raced out the house to go our separate ways to work. Today I decided to dig out one of my printed mini-dresses (boy, do I have a lot of those!) with this flowery number from Dorothy Perkins (where else?).
I teamed it with my favourite coral scarf from River Island, as well as my trusty denim jacket and a hidden cardigan underneath (despite joyful weather forecasts, it was FREEZING this morning!). I whipped the tights off as soon as I got home though, as it was so gorgeously warm! Feels like summer has finally shown its face, I'm so happy!
Hope you're all having a lovely week so far! I'm planning a few beauty posts so that I can post more during the week. I've taken to writing them up on my phone app and taking photographs when I get home, so long as the light is forgiving enough, of course!
Hello my lovelies!
Last week when ASOS were offering their Bank Holiday discount, I found myself placing an order for the black version of this dress within seconds of receiving the discount code! I can't help it, I just love the cut and feel of these dresses so much - the nipped-in waist, the quality material, the gorgeous swishy skirt....Dress perfection! They have the dress in teal as well, still priced at £40 but it is so worth keeping an eye out for discounts.
I tried to brighten up the black with a contrasting cardigan and red shoes, as well as a swipe of bright lipstick! Add a pearl necklace and messy curls and I felt I had a suitably retro look! Perhaps a bit much for trundling around Lakeside, but why forgo the chance to dress up?
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!
Hello my lovelies,
Just a quick outfit post today, I was so pleased to see the sun streaming through our windows this morning! This colour combination just made me feel happy for some reason; I've only just started mixing prints and I'm still quite wary of it, but these two seem to work! The top is from Next who have some lovely T-shirts at the moment. I hate spending like £20 on T-shirts, but this one was £14 so not too bad! I also bought a nice daisy print one which I'll probably feature on here soon. The skirt is an old favourite from Dorothy Perkins and it just makes me feel happy every time I wear it, proving that colour can lift your mood!
I'm trying to use less heat on my hair again, so this is my hair with a LOT of Morocconoil and Elixir Ultime in it, after a quick blast of the hairdryer because it takes hours to dry on it's own. When I gave up straighteners at uni my hair grew super quickly, so I'm hoping it happens again. I want long hair dammit!
What have you been up to this week? Let me know!
Hello my lovelies,
These are one of the most hyped products in terms of high street make up in recent months...so of course I bought a couple! I had the hardest time tracking down colours I liked at first, but eventually settled on Candy Apple as my first purchase.
I really like these, they're so simple to put on, you don't need a mirror and they are wonderfully pigmented considering they are basically just glossy lipbalms. In terms of longevity they obviously aren't as good as real lipsticks but it's no difficult task to keep reapplying!
Candy Apple is a classic red in the tube, but is somewhat orange-red once applied. I also bought the shade Sweet Tart as I wanted a nice soft pink for days when red just isn't appropriate, and this does the job nicely. It reminds me a little of Chanel's Rouge Coco Shine in Chance, with is always a plus!

I tend to measure the pigmentation by how well lipsticks cover up the freckle on my bottom lip. As you can see, it is still visible under the lip butters, but if you're after a light wash of colour then I would recommend these.
I like the packaging as well as they reflect the shade of each lip butter and stand out nicely in the depths of a cluttered handbag, making them easy to find. I think they're maybe a bit expensive at £7.99, I would have placed them at a fiver or under, but it's worth keeping an eye out for promotions!
Do you own any of these lip butters?
Would you like to?
xoxo
Hello my lovelies!
How typical that the sun has only just made an appearance, right at the end of this bank holiday weekend!
I thought I would try a new nail combo to try and create some summery feelings - quite the challenge when faced with a week of rain ahead, I'm sure you will agree! I used a new coral shade by Bourjois (I think it's Corail Rose? At any rate it's the brightest coral they do!) with a smattering of Models Own's Juicy Jules over the top and voila! Bright nails that sparkle in the sunlight (in the event we actually GET some sunlight, that is). The coral is actually a tad more pink in real life, not as orange as it appears in the photos but I just could not get it to show up properly as the light is quite strange! Hmm.
My outfit and make-up today are nothing special, just a comfy T-shirt dress and my usual smoky eye! I bought a couple of John Frieda hair care bits as they were on offer in Boots, two for £7.50 which is pretty good considering one item is about £6 normally! One is the Brilliant Brunette hairspray and the other is a leave-in conditioner. I'm going to use less heat on my hair for a while to give it a chance to grow, so I need all the products I can get to keep it looking somewhat neat!
Wishing you all a lovely week,
Hello my lovelies!
Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday so far - I've spent the day in London wandering around the Science museum (my first visit!) and the Natural History museum ( a favourite - but there were SO many people!). This is what I wore (all wrapped up in my mac of course - is anyone else outraged at how cold it is?!)
The dress is Topshop via eBay as I still cannot bring myself to pay Topshop prices. I'll happily spend all my wages in Dorothy Perkins but Topshop is just that bit too pricy for my liking! I love the colour and collar though but it's a bit thin material-wise. I need to stock up on nice slips to put under my dresses - any recommendations?
I decided to go for a glowy coral look to match my outfit, using Benefit Bella Bamba on my cheeks and Cha Cha tint on my lips. I also tried polka dot nails for the first time, with Essie Mint Candy Apple and Cute As A Button. I like it but I might try the inverted colour combination tomorrow as I'm not sure about the mint green with my pale skin. I need a tan, dammit! To this end I've picked up my old favourite Garnier Summerbody lotion as it is a gorgeous smelling gradual tanner, which doesn't make me look too orange. I'm the palest I've been in years, which normally doesn't bother me but I'm really in need of some sunshine at the moment!
In other news I had a fab chat with the lovely Debbie who works on the Estée Lauder counter in Selfridges. She tested out the Invisible Fluid foundation on me and insisted I take a sample home before buying when I expressed concern at the low coverage. So refreshing to have a sales assistant who isn't desperate to flog you something no matter how you feel about it! I really want a lighter weight foundation than Double Wear but still feel quite insecure without my full coverage make-up. Anyone got any recommendations for long lasting light foundations? They would be much appreciated!
Also spotted this guy being "tattooed" for MAC's new collection, how fun! And this gorgeous vintage Bourjois compact in the museum, their style hasn't changed a bit!
How are you spending your Bank Holiday weekend?
xoxo
Hello my lovelies,
Now I don't know about you but my hands have really taken a beating from the relentless cold weather we have been exposed to since, erm, last August. Add to that my constant use of hand sanitizer at work and you have unattractive, peeling cracked hands! Yuk!
I am constantly buying hand cream that smell fab but do nothing in terms of healing my hands: most just provide temporary relief at best! However, last weekend I picked this up as it is currently on offer at Boots: Garnier's Intensive 7 Day repair hand cream. And it is GREAT.
It has only been 6 days since I began using it but I've noticed a marked improvement already; no itchy patches between my fingers and the skin around my nails is much better already. This is a definite repurchase for me as the smell is gorgeous and reminds me of holidays, and the product really does what it says on the tube!
Currently £1.99 at Boots, reduced from the usual RRP of £2.99.
Have you used Garnier's creams before? Any recommendations?
xoxo
