Hello my lovelies!

Last week I was lucky enough to go to Disneyland Paris with my lovely fiance Jon!
It was my first ever time, as coming from a large family means that places like Disney are usually out of bounds as they're too expensive. However, for two people it is considerably more manageable and so I got to experience the magic for the very first time!

I was SO excited!!! Honestly, I was like a child when we got to Marne-la-Vallee station and the signs were all for Disneyland, it was amazing!
I can't really describe how fantastic Disneyland is. I actually was so overwhelmed upon entering the park and seeing the castle appearing at the end of Main Street that I shed a few tears (which Jon very kindly(!!) caught on video...haha). It is really the most magical place and I now want to work there as a real life Disney princess!

I have so many photos, I don't want to bore you all! One thing it has taught me is that I neeeeed a new camera. My little pink one is perfectly lovely but the quality leaves a little to be desired. I am coveting the camera my sister now has, so it's gone straight on my Christmas list! I'll try to blog more now but time just seems to go so quickly now I'm in full-time work and I just can't seem to find the time to do anything other than eat, sleep and work. I miss uni!
Much love
xoxo

Hello my lovelies,

I happened to be in London for work the other week and so found myself drawn to Selfridges Beauty Hall on my way home with my friend Geo as both of us happened to be looking for a new foundation.
At first, we ended up at MAC (of course), mainly because Geo had never bought anything by MAC before and wanted to test out some concealers and foundations. However, for some reason neither of us were overly tempted by what was on offer, me because I already own Studio Fix Fluid, Geo because she couldn't find anything that matched her idea of the perfect foundation. So...I suggested heading over to the Ilamasqua counter, because there isn't one anywhere near me (um hi Lakeside, fancy opening a store? Yes? Please?) and also because I was extremely intrigued by the new Skin Base foundation.

There have been umpteen blogger reviews of this foundation so you've probably heard it all before - based on BB creams, has a million shades, developed for over 3 years - and to be honest you could pop over to the Ilamasqua site to satisfy your thirst for information as it is more than helpful.
Having read millions of these press releases and reviews, I went over and hovered in front of the foundation display for approximately 30 seconds before catching the eye of a lovely shop assistant, Kirin. She was immediately helpful without being pushy, really easy to talk to, and before long we were happily discussing Skin Base and what I'd read about it as though we had known each other for years. Kirin was honest, which in itself is unusual for an SA in my experience, as she answered all my questions without fail and even told me that she personally finds it needs to be set with powder in order to last all day (whereas other SAs have told me a foundation is infallible only for it to slide off my face after two hours' wear) as well as revealing that she feels it requires concealer to achieve full coverage.
She was also incredibly knowledgeable about the shades and their undertones, and most impressively did not try to force a darker shade on me when I told her specifically I preferred lighter shades on my face (whereas other SAs *cough*Chanel*cough* have matched me to terracotta shades more suited to, say, my Indian dad). Following this, she swatched the foundation on both of us and gave us umpteen tips on application, ranging from her preferred application style to others that would suit different skin types.

I was just so impressed by her approachability and honesty as it was so pleasantly unexpected after my previous counter experiences, although she did tell us that they no longer work on commission so perhaps this allows them to be more objective?! In all honesty I was sold on the foundation  probably before even approaching the counter as I'd read so many reviews, but Geo was completely new to the brand and we both purchased a bottle. Since then I've been compiling our separate reactions and thoughts on the foundation and will write a post on all these in detail after we've used the foundation for about a month or so.

I can however tell you that the colour is spot on - they range by tone rather than shade and I picked a perfect neutral, contrasting with my pinky Estee Lauder and yellowy Studio Fix -  and the consistency is lovely, not too heavy, not too greasy. I do need to experiment with different application techniques, as I find it does not apply at all well with a regular flat foundation brush. I probably need to purchase a good stippling brush - maybe ELF? - because so far I've been applying with fingers but feel it needs a bit more to look absolutely flawless.
Here are two (horrifically scary, massive) photos of me wearing Skin Base - as you can see, freckles are still visible but it's good for evening out skin tone. I do need extra concealer on top to cover blemishes, as you can see in the second picture!

For reference I am a MAC NW20!

What do you think of Skin Base, if you own it? Any recommendations for good application/brushes etc?

Hello my lovelies,

Finally, I'm back to blogging! I've sadly lost Photoshop but my laptop is working again, so I'm reliant on Picnik to edit my photos, hope they turn out okay! I wouldn't call this a haul necessarily as it was all purchased on separate occasions, but it looks nicer all grouped together (oh, aesthetics...)!
Basically I made a wishlist over the summer entitled "things to buy when rich"* and after getting paid, consequently spent a good deal of time trying to cross things off this list!

First up is the Ilamasqua Skin Base foundation. I won't go into epic detail now because I've planned a few posts on this, but I'm really warming to it and trying out different ways of applying it. Definitely one of those blogger review purchases though, and by that I mean Blogger-Review-Influenced! I'm so easily sold on things... This retails for £25 from beauty counters or the Ilamasqua website.

Next is Benefit's new mascara, They're Real!. I think this is another B-R-I buy, to be honest, although I have been a fan of Bad Gal for a long time. Some before and after photos I've seen in reviews really influenced my decision here though, and when I saw Debenhams were offering 10% off, well, I couldn't resist! I look forward to testing this out on my lashes as they're quite long and curly naturally! Usually retails for £18.50 but I got it a bit cheaper, yay!

Then I decided to pick up a Sleek Pout Paint while I was hunting down Franki's giveaway prize and decided to go with Pin-Up as it's such a gorgeous red. I'm lucky enough to have samples of all the pout paints my sister bought and I'd tried Pin-Up and was so impressed with its staying power. They're a complete nuisance to apply though and so difficult to wash off! If you're interested in swatches, Naty has a lovely swatch post here. These are £4.99 each in Superdrug but it's worth keeping an eye out for offers, Nat bought hers on a 3 for 2 promotion!

Finally, I was near a MAC store the other day...of course I had to buy something. I opted for the Fix + spray as I've heard good things about it, sprayed it on my hand over a lipstick swatch and then couldn't get it off! I'm hoping it will do good things to my skin and make-up, it smells gorgeous so it looks promising! This was £12.50 and you get loads of it, so worth it if you can afford it!

I hope to review these all properly soon! Any questions, please leave a comment!

xoxo

*that is, having more than £12 in my bank account
Hello my lovelies,

Sorry for my repeated absence - I seem to be starting every post with a "sorry" recently - as we've had some difficult times as a family recently and it's all been getting on top of me. We lost our beloved uncle recently and the idea of blogging about what I wore last Sunday, or what I've bought recently, just seems a little difficult to me right now. I will start putting some posts together though because before this happened I did buy some items I'd like to feature on the blog, including my first Ilamasqua purchase complete with a tale of excellent customer service, as well as some seeming "blogger favourites" such as MAC Fix + and Sleek. However, I implore you to understand that this may take a few days to put together as I'm a bit of a mess at the moment and need a few days to get my head back together.

Thank you for your understanding, and much love to you all!

xoxo
Hello my lovelies!

First of all thank you so much to everyone who entered and left book recommendations - they all sound fab and I will be checking out the ones I haven't read yet very soon!

Now...the important part...I got to use RANDOM.ORG *excited*

Spreadsheet of awesomeness

This means my winner is FRANKI! Congratulations Franki! I will be emailing you shortly to ask which MeMeMe tint you'd prefer :)

Don't be disheartened if you didn't win, I'm already planning some new giveaways for when my wages come through! I like the idea of getting recommendations as giveaway entries so rest assured I have plenty of potential giveaway questions lined up to ask you!
xoxo

Hello my lovelies!

This post is super late and I'm so sorry! I was waiting for my sister to email me the photos and so had to wait till she was back at her computer. She took these with her super snazzy new camera as well so hopefully they're better quality than usual!

The weather's been horrible recently but last weekend in East Kent it was surprisingly warm considering it's apparently autumn already (someone tell August it's supposed to be balmy and sunny?). On the Saturday Nat and I wandered round Canterbury and I showed her my favourite place by the river, it's just so pretty there when it's good weather!

I know I'm wearing an outfit I've probably featured on the blog before but it's a comfortable one and I needed to be comfortable!
On the Sunday I decided to debut a pair of...JEANS!

These coloured jeans are from Dorothy Perkins and I absolutely love them. I think they're perfect for work too as we're not required to dress up too much and they're very comfortable. Unfortunately I think I'm between sizes at the moment as they've already started to go baggy, which is why I usually avoid trousers! I paired them with a River Island top and my battered New Look flats.

I'm not sure why my hair looks so red in this picture?!

Before I go I'd just like to remind you all that there's ONE DAY (well, a bit more than that) left to enter my giveaway! Get recommending!

xoxo

Hello my lovelies!

I've been a bit busy this week with work and other stressful matters so I completely bypassed the moment when I reached 100 followers! When I started this blog I thought I'd get about 10 readers tops (and was duly ecstatic when it reached that number!) but I never thought I'd reach 100 (as of now it is 102...but at least one of those is my fiance who I begged to be my first follower just so I'd feel better about myself. He reads my blog maybe once a month if that...so not sure he counts!)
I also managed to completely forget my blog's one year birthday, so this is a double celebration, if you like!

Anyway, as a thank you in general to all you lovely people who read my inane ramblings I thought I'd offer you the chance to get something back, so to speak! It's not much because I haven't been paid yet, but I figured I could start small and work my way up to better things! So! On to the prizes!

I wanted to pick prizes I'd wear/use myself and I feel they represent my style, in a way. So up for grabs is this lovely Urban Outfitters clock pendant (so tempted to keep it for myself but I already have my fab Accessorize one PLUS a Time-Turner, and wouldn't give them up for the world!).
Also, because any giveaway of mine would be incomplete without it, I'm giving you the chance to win the MeMeMe cheek and lip tint of your choice! That means if you win you merely have to tell me whether you would prefer the Pussycat or the Poppy tint, and I will pop out and buy it for you! Both are meant to be very similar to the Benefit Benetint and Posietint, but in my (non-expert) opinion the MeMeMe ones are better and more pigmented! Regular readers will know of my obsession with cheek and lip tints, they're the one product I'd recommend to everyone so this is a fab opportunity for you to understand what I'm always on about!

Now on to the RULES (rules are VERY important):

- You must be a reader of this blog (I don't like the word follower. I'm not a cult.) GFC or Blogger is preferable!

- You must leave a comment on this post telling me what your FAVOURITE BOOK is.
This is because I love books and have run out of stuff to read and I plan on spending most of my eventual wages on books. It can be any genre you like, kids, sci-fi, historical, chicklit, autobiographical, whatever. No book recommendation, no entry. This is my only important rule, sorry!

- Erm, you should probably also leave your email address in your comment, because I'm not sure my pigeons will find you otherwise.

- This giveaway is open to UK residents only, because I am poor and cannot afford much postage at the moment. Also this reduces the chances of my little sister trying to win. I buy her enough stuff as it is.

- The giveaway will end TWO WEEKS HENCE, so on the 28th August at 11.59pm to give you all a chance to enter (if you so wish!)

I'll choose the winner at random, maybe by putting names into a hat because I don't really fancy drawing up Excel spreadsheets and so on (I am so lazy). So...without further ado...

GOOD LUCK!
