8 lovely people had something to say
  1. Such an amazing post. As you know, I lost my Dad to cancer, acute myloid leuakemia to be precise.

You echoed so many of my feelings here. If my Dad had listened to his body, made time to visit the doctor sooner, been scared into getting it investigated more quickly things might have been very different.

How brave you are posting this and fighting something that must have been so scary.

  2. You are such an amazing person and I am so glad that I can call you my friend. My grandma has had cancer twice and recovered and yet it was a very close thing. She has now been diagnosed with PSP and it is so heartbreaking to see her suffer. I am planning to try and raise as much money as possible but I need ideas for things I can do to get sponsored. I am in awe of your strength though.

    Much love,

    Maria xxx

  3. Thank you my lovelies. I also know what it's like having close relatives with this horrible illness and I just really felt the need to talk about it and somehow spread even more awareness, if that's even possible! Franky I think the phrase "scaring" people into getting checked is perfect, too many people dismiss it as something that can't happen to them and it simply isn't so! My heart really goes out to people like you who have had to lose people they love because they're too noble/afraid to go to the doctor's, my mother-in-law-to-be's father did much the same thing as your father did :(
Maria, I know it's heartbreaking to watch people you love go through this, I wish your grandma much strength and courage, and I will wholly support you in your efforts to raise money too :)
Much love to you both and thank you so much for commenting xxxx

  4. As I told you, I cried so much reading this and it made me so proud, thinking 'this is my big sister who is raising awareness for cancer and doing something productive like the race for life, unlike most people our ages and thus, motivating us in turn to do it as well.' i'm also so proud that you're talking about it , i was always worried you were keeping it in. i love you so much and miss being with you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  8. Lovely and inspiring post, thank you for sharing with us. I used to think that cancer was something that only people in their 50s/60s got but as I grew older I became more aware of the fact that noone is immune from it, no matter what your age xx

Have you come across http://www.sophiefeelsbetter.blogspot.com ?

It's an amazing blog about the big C by a beauty editor from Look magazine.
