...a dry, sunny day
Now you would think that getting married in August would ensure lovely weather on the big day, but we have ridiculously decided to get married in England! Coupled with the fact our wedding is scheduled for the bank holiday Monday and well, I'm not entirely confident it won't be a soggy event... Thankfully our venue has plenty of covered areas and walkways so it's entirely possible to get around without actually venturing out into the open, but I dream of perfect golden hour photographs and lawn games in the sun. It doesn't have to be 30-degree heat, but a dry day would be ideal!
...spending time with loved ones
We aren't a super traditional couple so are doing away with the usual receiving line (kiss kiss, thank you for coming, hope you're well... next!) but I'm always hearing about how the bride and groom are simply too busy to spend time with every single guest. Ideally I would like to be able to have a conversation with everyone present if possible and let them know exactly how happy I am to have them with us and sharing our celebration! Our guest list is fairly small compared to others so hopefully this will be feasible, I'll certainly do my best!
...spending time with my husband
On the flipside, you so frequently hear about married couples hardly speaking to one another on the day as they're so in demand! All the bridal advice I've read thus far stresses how important it is to make the time to take a breather with your new husband, just to take it all in! We will have our couple shots with our photographer away from everyone else and I'm determined to slip away from the party at some point just to bask in the joy of being married, to say "we did it!".
...sampling our wedding meal
Now if there's one thing I like more than make up, it's food! We've got a fabulous menu planned, full of all our favourite dishes, and I'm dead set on having my food and not getting sidetracked by other things! Both our mothers say they hardly ate on their wedding day, I can't let that happen to me... we have halloumi butties and chips for the evening, how can I let those slide? I'm also plotting my breakfast/brunch already... I told you I was obsessed with food!
...taking photos
This might sound odd as we're paying for a specific photographer to take beautiful photos, but my whole life revolves around social media and documenting my life, so it would be odd not to do so on our wedding day? I'll definitely have my camera to hand, not going overboard of course, but I hope to take some of my own snaps too! Maybe even sneak in a cheeky Instagram? Who knows!
...feeling comfortable
This is such a big thing for me, I don't want my anxiety to flare up on the day! I usually get quite stressed when on the spot or doing public speaking, my face gets hot and I get all sweaty around my hairline (ew) which then causes my hair to do a ridiculous unmanageable curl! Add a big white dress into the mix and 80-odd people looking at me, it doesn't bode well. I'm sure it will be okay on the day and I probably won't care if my hair starts to misbehave but it's just part of the confidence factor for me. Thankfully my dress isn't enormous, I'm wearing flat shoes, and hopefully I'll find some wonder product to stop me getting sweaty... a girl can dream!
What do you think of my wishlist? Is it something you've thought about before Any unreasonable demands (haha)?
Love Dani
