Let me begin this post by saying how much I adore this colour! It's a lovely deep red with slight sparkles when it catches the light, although on photos and when removing it appears to be a dark pink. The colour is initially what drew me to this nail varnish, as subtly sparkly red is right up my street. However, this product has a few drawbacks...but I'll start with the positives.
I really, really liked the brush. It was easy to direct and the colour spread easily. Now I'm no expert at painting my nails and it usually results in splodges all the way down my fingers but with this particular nail varnish I experienced none of that. I only applied one coat and it looked fabulous, didn't streak, didn't clump; in short, I fell in love.
Fast forward a simple night's sleep afterwards, though, and I found tipwear on several of my nails, as well as a random spot on my index finger that had just scratched off. Bear in mind this is after doing a strenuous activity such as SLEEPING. I dread to think what it would have looked like after, say, doing the washing up. Actually, I know what it looked like after doing the washing-up as my mum wore the same polish and hers was significantly scratched after applying two coats! Furthermore, my mum decided to remove hers as it was so battered and the tips of her fingers are still bright red, despite using copious amounts of nail varnish remover, and there are still streaks of polish on her nails. One of the unique selling points of this product is that it's meant to last up to 8 days. I haven't had it on my nails for 8 days, admittedly, but the way it's scratched off already, I doubt it will last that long. It is, as my mum can attest to, extremely difficult to remove, however, so maybe that's what they meant?
To summarise, I loved the colour, loved the brush, loved the texture of the polish, but I'm afraid I expected more from this product! Bourjois are usually a brand I love, but I'm not sure I would repurchase as I'd have to reapply it every day, and it might prove to be a little time-consuming...
